I had to pry myself off dark souls before I really died, I'm addicted to leveling and stat allocating, 3 days in and I'm already in Londo fighting ghosts with masterful dexterity.

Interesting note: No sleep for a few days instantly turns me into a skeleton.

YO THIS IS REALLY OLD: I know levels are not as relevant as gear after beating it the first time.I'm currently doing a lvl 1 run/

Even a level 2 can go grab a claymore and 2 hand it or 2 hand a drake sword, if you're worried about lvling up the wrong stats
Really handy for such a low lvl to cap out a lightning claymore +5 with hornet ring and one shot people lvl 90 with riposte or backstab lol

I love this game so freaking much XD

But you actually don't need the grinding, just patience, the drake sword for the first 25% of the game, then miracles, mid armor, patience, lots of patience ... Then Ornstein and Smough, there is where you die, practice with them.

Then a lighting Uchigatana +5, Ornstein's Armor, and there, the rest of the game is just trial and error XD

It's not really about hoarding yourself on souls. It's about your skill to survive. Dark Souls and Demon Souls work that way; you'll never progress as much if you don't look at danger in the face and attack it in the back (though it's rewarding when you land a parry without problem).
